Action Alert – Sullivans Division Sea Cadet Newsletter – APRIL 2020

From The Desk Of The CO

As you are all aware by now, the April drill has been cancelled along with all other events. Information comes in fast, furious and frequently. We have been also notified by the Navel Park of their intentions to open the Park on or about May, 15th if this continues. If this does happen and the all clear is given by HQ, we are looking into other options for May Drill unless the Park changes the opening date. (At this time) all summer training will be going forward but are subject to change. If you sign up for a training that requires travel, purchase refundable tickets. Please look for emails from the Division for future information. The Sullivans officers are working hard to prepare for whatever comes up next. I hope you are all well and healthy. Please remember to get ready for the PRT in the near future. Do not wait to get prepared for the test, you are only hurting yourself. We all hope to have drill at the earliest opportunity allowed so we can continue to go full speed ahead. Stays focused and continue to send in coursework and prepare classes. Remember that ‘We Stick Together” and notify the Division with any issues or questions.

LCDR Todd A. Caughill

Greetings. I hope this finds you all healthy and safe. This is a very strange, anxious, and possibly scary time for some of you. Trust the processes that are in place and know together we will all get through this. I ask that you all check on each other making sure your shipmates are healthy and doing well. Please pass up anything that anyone may need, we are here to help where we can.

I would like to pass along some congratulations and well wishes to LCDR Joseph Pawli on his appointment to Regional director! We will surly miss his direct leadership here as CO of the Sullivans division, but I know he will do great things in his new position. Also congratulations to LCDR Todd Caughill on his appointment to CO of the Sullivans division! I personally look forward to serving with you, and know we have some new and exciting ideas in the time ahead. Finally I would like to extend congratulations to Chief Petty Officer Bianca Foeller. Chief Foeller was selected out of the entire country to represent the Sea Cadets in Australia. There was plenty of competition to go on this trip and to be selected was a huge honor! Unfortunately due to the Corona Virus pandemic the trip had to be cancelled, but it does not make her selection any less significant. Please take a moment to congratulate her. Finally I would like to congratulate all of you on a job well done with our annual inspection, and the change of command ceremony. You all looked and performed very well.

Our drill schedule is not defined at this moment due to the health concerns that are still in place. Things change quickly and I ask that you be ready to move out on a moment notice. We will give as much notice as we can as to where and when the drill will be. In the mean, time please work on your course work, submitting up your chain via email. Also we WILL be doing the PRT when we get back to drill so work on this at home now where you can safely.

Please stay safe and healthy, always at ready to drill. Keep in touch with your shipmates and pass along any needs or requests.

LTJG Richard J. Ryan
Executive Officer
The Sullivans Division / Training Ship Little Rock
