Summer is gone!
I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and has had a great start to the new school year. Just a reminder to anyone who may not have turned in your report card back in June to get your academic ribbon or star this will be the last month to turn it in for last school year. What do you need to achieve to get this ribbon? For every two marking periods you are on honor roll you will get the ribbon for the first time and afterwards the corresponding appurtenance.
We have lots coming up these next few months. PRT will be held this drill, you must pass the PRT in order to stay in the program and attend trainings so I hope you are ready.
Acorn Run will be October 4th & 5th: More information will be handed out at September drill.
Who wants to go to Canada? We have been invited to a joint training with the Navy League Cadets that we hosted at July Drill and there will also be a Division of the Sea Cadets there this time. This will happen at June 2020 Drill. There will be a cost to this trip so we are looking to do some fundraising in the future to offset the cost to the cadets. Plus we should hopefully have the photos of July’s event by October drill.
Make sure you check out the Upcoming Drill in the newsletter, as we now have the drill dates till September 2020. So moving forward I do not want to hear from anyone they did not know when drill was. Take the page print it out and stick it to your fridge.
Also, I want a list at next drill of who is interested in Winter Training – MUST BE A SEA CADET. We will need 4-6 Staff Cadets (you must have attended POLA to be a staff Cadet) There will be 14 open spots for anyone who needs a training for advancement, remember you can bank trainings! Please see LT Melanie Pawli after morning muster if interested.
Did you have a yearly Physical Exam over the past few months or are you due soon? Make sure you get a new completed medical exam form filled out by your doctor. We must have a current form on file for you to attend drill. This goes also for any cadet that takes prescription medicine; you must have a new completed medical supplemental on file. I have attached both forms for your convenience.
Sea Bag List
REMEMBER, even if it is not an overnight drill, you are still required to have a sea bag with the necessary contents.
Meals are $15 per cadet for the weekend.
Please make sure you have your money.

Bring appropriate outdoor clothing in case we go outside!
Sleeping gear – sleeping bag, blanker, pillow, sweats to sleep in
Shower gear – towel, wash cloth, soap, shampoo, Toothbrush, toothpaste, brush and most important DEODORANT!!!
Remember each and every one of you is our best recruiter. If you would like to bring a friend/neighbor/relative who is interested in joining, let LCDR J. Pawli know in order to pass along the information about the program to them.
